The NDP leadership race is on and workers are asking…

Who will lead the NDP into the future?

Will it be more of the same — politicians we’ve seen before, party insiders insiders, or folks whose ideas come from podiums and research papers instead of lunch rooms and picket lines?

Workers are asking for something different. We’re asking for a leader who knows what it’s like to fight for wages that keep up, to bargain for safety on the job, to stand on a picket line when everything is on the line.

That’s why more and more of us are turning to Rob Ashton. For 30 years, he’s been a longshore worker who has fought alongside fellow workers. He’s proven that leadership can come from the rank and file — and that when workers stand together, we can win.

The NDP was built by workers. It must be led by workers.

That’s why we’re coming together from coast to coast to coast: to show Rob Ashton he has workers’ support if he chooses to run — and to commit ourselves to carrying this campaign forward.

Why workers want Rob Ashton to lead the ndp…

Rob Ashton isn’t a career politician. He’s a worker!

For more than 30 years as a longshoreman, he’s lived the struggles of working people and fought alongside them for fairness, respect, and dignity on the job. His leadership is rooted in the rank and file — in solidarity, not status.

Rob has bargained agreements, walked picket lines, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with workers in tough fights. He’s never shied away from taking on corporate greed, government inaction, or policies that put profits ahead of people. His record is clear: when workers are under attack, Rob is ready to fight back.

As President of ILWU Canada, Rob carried that fight onto the national stage. He has defended jobs and safety standards, confronted inequality, and joined with allies across the labour movement to push for justice. He’s been a consistent voice for working-class solidarity — refusing to let the ruling class divide us into left and right when the real fight is bottom versus top.

Rob is also a lifelong New Democrat. He has always believed the NDP must be the political home of working people — a party that unites us, not divides us. For Rob, leadership isn’t about titles or personal ambition. It’s about building a stronger, unified voice for workers inside the NDP and across the country.

That’s why more and more workers are asking Rob Ashton to run for leader of the NDP. Because in this moment, when the status quo has failed working families, we need a leader who understands our struggles, speaks our language, and fights relentlessly for real working-class wins.

Rob Ashton is not a career politician. He’s a worker who has proven he can lead — from the shop floor, to the bargaining table, to the national stage. And that’s exactly the kind of leadership the NDP — and Canada — needs now.
